About Me

Hi, I’m Andrew- a therapist with a passion for finding purpose and meaning in a world that can sometimes feel hard to make sense of.

Before beginning my psychotherapy training, I spent over 12 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. Seeing the impacts of operational deployments on my friends and colleagues led me to a second career as a therapist. Whether you are seeking help after a long struggle, navigating a major turning point or just looking for someone to listen without judgement, I offer to help you on your journey towards living a fulfilling and meaningful life. I respect that healing, and even just reaching out for help, can be stressful. My commitment to you is to help you feel listened to, respected and understood.

Couples Counselling

In couples counselling, we work together to address communication, conflict and other issues. The focus of couples counselling is on helping each of you feel seen, heard and understood, with the aim of helping you develop insights and skills to improve your relationship.

First Responders and Other High Stress Occupations

Those who pursue these lines of work often draw great meaning and purpose from what they do. The cost however, is that stress can alter the  way the body processes emotions. Your culture and experience are unique and so your counselling should be too.

How Does Counselling Work?

Whether you are seeking therapy for post-traumatic stress, burnout,
or some other challenge, it often follows three steps.

Immediate Relief

Phase one is immediate relief. This involves tools to manage stress or other intense emotions and learning what is happening inside your body and brain. There is often a good reason for all the confusing things going on. Your body is not broken, it has just adapted to stress.

Action and Change

With safety and stability established, we can now begin the work. In this phase, we actively address and resolve the lingering stress and emotions that you're seeking help for. This is the part where you really get to feel like you are getting your old self back.

Self-Mastery

A primary goal of therapy is to give you the tools you need to be your own therapist. That is what this phase is about. By understanding yourself deeply and knowing what helps or hurts, you gain insight into how to relate to the world in a way that brings you meaning and fulfilment.
